It is no surprise that you may be confused and depending on different studies performed, you may be working out too much or not enough. So how much exercise do you really need? Government guidelines suggest that 75 minutes of vigorous exercise or 150 minutes of moderate exercise is needed each week. Different studies answer the same question by tripling this time. So back to the question… how much exercise do you really need? Let me help you out here and give you some ideas to consider.

There is no secret that you definitely should exercise to look more toned. How much exercise really depends largely on your goals and how hard you are willing to push yourself. There are so many different variables to consider, and is very difficult to point out specific time. And not to mention different objectives you may be trying to achieve, such as: weight loss, feel better, more energy, look more toned, stay healthy.

How Much Exercise Every Week To Look More Toned?

You should do about 5 workouts per week. Yes, it will actually require more work to look more toned than it does to lose weight. I wrote an article on Losing Weight and you can check it out here. Two of them should be High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), or Cardio workouts and two strength training sessions. HIIT will help you trip more flab than steady cardio exercises and will also save you time. High Intensity periods will boost your calorie burn during the intervals but also in recovery because your body is using more energy to return to normal.

Strength training plays a significant role in determining how much exercise you need to look more toned. You need to build up some muscles. According to a study in the Journal of Applied Physiology, exercisers who did cardio and strength training lost more fat and inches than those who did only cardio. Resistance training protects as well as builds lean muscles which in turn gives you the power to burn those calories.
