Most of the times when you first start working out, you may feel slow, low energy, almost winded and the only thought that is running through your head is to stop. Our fitness tip here is to keep going, and rather ease yourself into new movements giving your body some time to adapt. But do you ever wonder why it is so hard to start working out? Why your body is putting up some resistance despite the fact that you have decided to better yourself?

Researches at the University of Utah have found that it takes your body and cells some time to adapt to the transition from passive to active status. The best explanation would be perhaps to compare it to car that is targeting to go from zero to sixty. First the rpm’s are raising then the take off and only after awhile it levels off and runs smoothly. Your body goes through similar stages to reach optimum performance and is simply because you do not have enough energy to start. Don’t give up, start slow and over time you will get better.

You can improve the time it takes for your body to overcome this slow start period by exercising more frequently, and no I am not suggesting that you start working out twice a day, but maybe three to four times per week and perhaps increase that with time if you feel up for it. As you train, your body will become more efficient at creating and storing energy and this in turn reduces that sluggish period so you start to dread those first few moments less and less.
