So you made your New Year’s Fitness Resolutions, but now what? How do you follow through without giving up like every other year (you know exactly what I’m talking about… the hype that lasts maybe a week or two, lol!)
Today I wanted to share some great fitness tips that will help you CRUSH New Year Resolutions 2016!
How To Follow Through With Your Fitness Resolutions even if you have failed in the past…
You may or may not know that New Years Resolution Statistics are not favorable for most people. We tend to set goals on impulse without putting much thought into it or even worse just assume that the wants become our goals. You know the want to lose weight, the want to quit smoking, the want to become financially independent. I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with those goals (want’s), all I’m saying is that for the most part, we just assume our wants as goals without a solid plan of action. So if you want this year to be different from the Health and Fitness standpoint, then keep on reading our best Tips for the New Year!
You And The Fitness Resolutions
If you are serious about achieving your Fitness Resolutions this year, then first thing you need to consider is setting realistic goals. I mean, you cannot expect to lose 30 pounds in a month while not changing anything about your daily routine and nutrition. That is not realistic. Instead start by setting a schedule of workouts with a reasonable target. For example if your goal is to hit the gym 5 times a week, set a goal to do it at least 3 times. If you can successfully sustain this goal, then raise it up to 4 times until eventually you get to the original target of 5. Why is this important? It is important because I see too many times over and over, where people set goals that are way too difficult to achieve and just give up all together. And so the cycle continues… well I will just do it later, next month, next year and it never stops!
So now that you have set your goals, it is also important to figure out exactly WHY did you set them at this time. Fitness Resolutions without the reasoning behind it is exactly the cause of most failures. Your reasons must be strong enough to pull you through the tough days when you just don’t feel like doing it! Your reasons must be strong enough to hold you back when reaching for the junk food. Develop a vision of what or how do you want to look like that is strong enough to pull you towards your goals. One of my favorite quotes on this topic: “Pain pushes you until Vision pulls you”- Michael Beckwith.
Alright, so you have the reasons, you have smart fitness goals, plan to to workout, what else could you possibly need?
What is a smart goal? Well, just in case… S.M.A.R.T goals are- Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely. But the one thing that you may be missing to totally dominate your fitness resolutions is support. See this is a common step that people tend to overlook, but is so important. Commit to working out with a buddy or join some type of challenge group or find a support body online or better yet, join a specific support group that will be more personalized to your needs. By the way, we are starting to take applicants for our next support group “Blast Fat Fast” that starts on January 18th. There will be some requirements but if you are interested and would like to know more, shoot me an email to:
