Without a doubt addressing your fitness goals will require some time investment.
But do you know how to be efficient with your time when it comes to achieving those objectives? I wanted to help you out and share my past experiences as well as let you in on a secret of what I am doing now.
So Are You Ready For Some Fitness Efficiency Tips?
Alright, so you may be asking what is up with all of this fitness efficiency tips? Well to be quite honest, the answer is simple, when you break it all down it uncovers one simple thing that holds people from achieving their fitness goals and that is time to workout.
Finding time to workout is a single reason why most people don’t do it! Despite the fact and even understanding of the fitness benefits. But why is that?
Let me help you out here. So last night our family went to YMCA for a family night. Kids were playing basketball and having a good time. So I decided to head down to a fitness center out of curiosity and to get some exercise done. I’ve noticed that quite a few people were choosing the elliptical machines so I decided to give it a try. It was not very complicated to get on the machine and start pedaling while watching a hockey game on the TV. So far so good…
Before I knew it some 30 minutes had passed and I started paying attention to the display on the machine. It was giving my my heart rate, distance traveled even how many calories I had burnt. And that is where the biggest shocker set it. After 30 minutes of exercise, I had only burnt 170 calories. What?!? To me that seemed totally crazy and let me explain….
I value my time as it is one resource that we have that cannot be replaced. Therefore the time to workout and what I get out of it becomes a very important measurable to me. Well… what does that have to do with fitness efficiency tips, you may ask! Everything…! If I am putting work in and using my time for that purpose, I want to get the most out of it that I can. And quite honestly, 30 minute round trip to the YMCA with a 30 minute elliptical workout, I was expecting greater results than burning only 170 calories. Don’t get me wrong here, it is way better than doing nothing at all but… those kind of results just do not fit in my daily schedule. It can be hard making time for exercise as it is… and I saw no return on 1 hour investment.
Wait a second… so what did I expect? Well quite honestly, I am use to doing exercises right at my home- just following a workout DVD. My past experiences (of course results vary on the specific exercise routine as well as the effort you put in), but burning 300-500 calories in 30 minutes or more is quite common.
So I don’t know about you… but when it comes to reaching my fitness goals, I don’t have time to waste. My fitness efficiency tips for you are, pay attention to the metrics. More specifically the return on your time investment. Try to stack your exercises where more than one part of your body is being worked on at the time.
In conclusion, make time to workout, but pay attention to what you are doing! And keep in mind that Most Effective time to workout is NOW! Don’t wait until later, because believe you me… something will come up!
